Pop Gun, the band that liked to turn it up to "11", is back. During the early to mid-90's, the leather-clad, beer-loving rockers played hard and played loud. Newly signed to Intelligent Records, the band's previous studio work - along with a couple of soon-to-be recorded new songs - are scheduled to be released on the Intelligent Records label. The band will be recording with former Neighborhoods' front man David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth in May.

Pop Gun is made up of Harry Zarkades (lead vocals, bass), Bruce Allen (guitar, vocals), Jim Melanson (guitar, vocals) and Greg Walsh (drums, vocals). The band regularly played the Boston clubs (the Rat, T.T. the Bears, the Middle East) and the North Shore. The band also enjoyed airplay on both college and commercial radio, including WBCN and WFNX. In 1993, the band won the Salem State College Battle of the Bands. The contest was sponsored by the school radio station, WMWM, where the band first met DJ, Shilo McDonald, the founder of Intelligent Records.

All family men today, the members have managed to stay true to their love for music (in between watering their lawns). Zarkades was a co-founder of This Magazine, a rock poetry magazine; Allen is the front man for the still-rockin' Doom Buggies; Melanson heads up power trio Charcoal Lavage; and Walsh recently finished a three-year tour of duty with punk rock band Zippo Raid. The band plans to play some dates this summer.
